Plainfield Select Board Approves Dozens of Reappointments, Advances Cannabis Host Agreement
PLAINFIELD — September 24, 2025 — Plainfield Select Board renews more than 30 town appointments and advances a cannabis host community agreement. Meeting Wednesday, the board unanimously approved the transfer of a surplus 1988 GMC fire pumper to the Plainfield Volunteer Firefighters Association and a $1,000 stabilization-fund transfer to cover a baseball-field backstop insurance deductible. Chair Rowan then led a detailed negotiation with cannabis applicant Daniel Till of Farm Plainfield, LLC, reaching consensus on a draft host community agreement prepared by town counsel KP Law — retaining the board's authority to order operations to cease within 30 days if odor complaints go unresolved, and declining to cap consultant fees. Till is expected to execute the agreement at the board's next meeting, tentatively set for October 23. The board also worked through reappointments including Rob Shearer as Fire Chief, Shirley Todd Wood as Council on Aging chair, and Peter LaPointe newly added to both the Plainfield Energy Committee and confirmed on the Planning Board, while noting ongoing vacancies on the Conservation Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
