Plainfield Select Board Appoints Daniel Tebow as Permanent Police Chief
Plainfield Select Board appoints permanent police chief and fields parent plea over vocational school deadline.
PLAINFIELD -- June 23, 2026, Plainfield Select Board appoints permanent police chief and fields parent plea over vocational school deadline. The board unanimously appointed acting Police Chief Daniel Tebow to the position permanently, effective July 1, 2026, after an 11-day public posting drew no outside applicants, only Tebow's own application. The board also approved year-end budget transfers totaling $32,235.75 and paid vendor invoices to Novus ($630) and KP Law ($808.50). In unscheduled public comment, resident Lily Thompson of 553 West Dane Road asked the board to intervene on behalf of her daughter, who received a late waitlist offer from Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School but whose required non-resident tuition paperwork arrived one day after the April 1 deadline; a board member pledged to contact Mohawk Trail Regional Superintendent Cheryl Stanton directly and to explore legislative relief through state Representative Lindsay Sabadoza, with Smith expected to release the waitlist spot within two weeks. The board also learned it had been awarded $2.25 million across three separate grants, $1 million for bridge construction, $1 million for processed gravel road repairs, and $250,000 for highway equipment, which members described as an unprecedented single-year total for the town.
