Plainfield Select Board Closes Bow Street Lawsuit, Eyes June Special Town Meeting

PLAINFIELD — May 13, 2025 — Plainfield Select Board approves $32,000 highway superintendent buyout and closes Bow Street lawsuit. At the May 13 meeting, the two-member board voted unanimously to pay Highway Superintendent Mark approximately $32,000 — covering more than 570 extra hours worked during an unusually severe winter — in three installments, and to convert his compensation from salary-with-comp-time to an hourly arrangement going forward. The board also voted unanimously to close an existing court case against the former owners of 77 Bow Street and directed KP Law to send a formal letter to the new owner outlining obligations under state and federal wetlands law. Michigan-based cultivator Daniel Till briefed the board on plans to operate an outdoor cannabis and hash rosin operation at 27 Groom Street; a community outreach meeting is set for May 27, with the board indicating a host community agreement negotiation is unlikely before July. Former neighboring cannabis operator Christian, of 28 Groom Street, told the board that two prior denials for cannabis cultivation on that road cost him "millions of dollars."
