PLAINFIELD — June 24, 2025 — Plainfield Select Board adopts cannabis application scoring rubric and sets minimum $75 fee. The board unanimously approved a 100-point evaluation framework — 75 points distributed across 10 locally controlled categories — required under a 2023 state mandate that municipalities file a social equity and host community agreement policy with the Cannabis Control Commission; Plainfield missed a May 1 deadline after officials were unaware of the requirement until a conversation with KP Law, whose $1,040.40 invoice the board also approved Tuesday. Local involvement and nuisance mitigation drew the highest local weight at 15 points, followed by cannabis business knowledge at 12; timeline and diversion prevention each scored near the bottom at 1.5 and 2 points respectively. The board also voted unanimously to renew public-safety coverage with VFIS, Volunteer Fireman's Insurance Services, after a competing bid raised concerns about age eligibility factors that the town's police contact said were no longer an issue.
